Woke up with so much energy for the day but once breakfast was out of the way I became sucked into what online content so didn’t get to the homestead until the afternoon. This is when the weather started to brighten up so I wasn’t too disappointed that I had missed the morning.
Finish the new worktop in the potting shed after a neighbour gave me some of his spare pallet wood. Spent some time having an interesting conversation about life, the universe with a friend online.
By late afternoon the heat from the sun was quickly fading but found time to plant the new apple tree which had arrived a few days ago. Ashmead’s Kernal is a variety I first saw on the television series The Victorian Kitchen Garden with Harry Dodson and Peter Thoday. I planted it just to the side of the cold frame and will allow it to grow into a mature tree, which will be around 12ft. It was a Fruit Day today so perfect timing. The asparagus crowns will have to wait for another day to be put into their growing positions.

In the evening I cooked the last chicken breast and made salad. Planning an early night.
